Rome to Reformation

aka Togas to Translation :)

This school year our Core is Rome to Reformation--so we started school with toga time, and writing on clay tablets.

Aren't they sweet?

And of course, I haven't posted from July 'til December, so I'll tell you what we've been learning!  We started with the rise of Rome, Romulus and Remus and all that stuff, then moved on to Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar, Pax Romana, and the following emperors.  We're up to Nero and gladiators, persecution of Christians, etc. We just watched the old movie, Ben Hur, this week as part of our curriculum.  It made everything come alive, especially chariot racing!
In science we are studying Anatomy, so we've been enjoying learning about bones, muscles, digestion, and nutrition!
For Language Arts we read a lot, and we've also been working on homonyms, antonyms, synonyms, Latin root words, writing on various topics, practicing cursive, etc.
In math we are continuing to memorize math facts, especially multiplication and division. Life of Fred continues to amuse and educate. Check it out!
And they are both learning touch typing from an internet course!
The girls are reading tons (favorite topic--Star Wars--we're going to stop checking those books out though since they are brain candy, and work on some more nutritious books!) We had some vacation time while Gittlens were here, so we're back into the thick of things.
