Happy Birthday 8 Year Old!
Tikvah turned 8! I can't believe my youngest has gotten so big. Of course, there's not much time lapse between the two, so it goes fast!
We are so thankful for this little girl who fills our life with laughter. She still has a thousand crazy faces, a sense of humor and deviousness (who did she get that from I wonder?), athletic prowess, creativity, and more! We gave her a joke book for her birthday -1001 jokes and I think she had it read in two days! One of her favorite activities is drawing "comics". She takes a sheet of paper, divides it into 16 or more panels, and uses (generally) stick figures to create all kinds of crazy stories. Her people are great! You can really tell what they are doing and follow the story line. I love watching her draw their faces because as she draws, her own face mirrors the expression she is drawing. Tikvah is a voracious reader and very smart, but watch out for clothing, because if it "feels" she can't wear it!
Tiki, we are so proud of the young woman you are developing into. I'm so glad God let us borrow you!
Since Tikvah's birthday was on Saturday this year, we went out the day before, and then had her birthday brownies with friends at Olive Tree.
For Tiki's birthday event we went first to the Lazzadro Museum of Lapidary Art (think rocks). They had some amazing carvings and pictures made from tiny rocks pieced together like a mosaic, and plenty of neat stones.
Trying to pick up petrified wood
This incredible castle was a highlight!! Its made of gold, silver, and other gems, including diamond windows! (photo from museum website)
Next door was a conservatory with beautiful flowers
And fun backdrops!
Then on to Legoland!!! Thanks, homeschool discount! :)
R2D2 loving...
Scary Darth Vader
class clown?
who is that guy anyway?
Favorite part of the day: pedaling round and round to raise your helicopter higher--I think they went on it at least 50 times--no lines! We also got to see two 4D lego movies, build lego things, etc, etc. lots of fun!
Selah the Lion
Tikvah the Lion
Lions R Us
And on to the birthday brownies... in honor of Lego
Sweet birthday girl
With fun presents...
dessert with friends!
