Writing assignment
Today's assignment: Write a story about a horse.
(all punctuation and spelling is from the children. They don't like capital "I", so they use lowercase. They also have a thing about apostrophes. Oh well. They know the right way and hopefully will decide to use it! If you write them a letter or email, maybe that will encourage them to change and do it the right way!!!)
Selah:
i am a horse. i love to roam the hill's and prarie. i am wild.
People have tried to catch me, but i always get away.
if you are wondering what my name is, i cannot tell you that. Well, i guess i do have one. But it is a secret. People call me "Lightning." That could be my real name. Probly not, though.
i have to go now!
Good-bye!
-"Lightning"
Tikvah:
1. Ahem. Once i slipped on a banana peel (Whoop! Boom! Oof!)
it hurt very much. i was going to throw it away but all of a sudden it spoke! it said "hi! Who are you?" Well i told it that it shld only slip bad people (robbers, bully's, etc) so it said "okay!"
The end.
2. Another time i went to rome. i went to the parthenon but it almost fell down on me! i escaped! Whew! Then i looked away when i looked back it was rebiult! i asked other people and they had the same story! Weird! the end.
3. Me and the banana peel got to be good friend's we caught lot's of robber's here is one: we were walking along suddenly we heard someone yell "robber!" i quickly put down peel (her name is peel) and the robber slipped on her! The police caught him and all was well the end.
(and even though it doesn't seem like Tikvah wrote about the horse, there were illustrations and the speaker in her story is a horse: horse with banana illustration, horse at the Parthenon illustration, horse and peel catching robber illustration)
I love my kids. and their imaginations!

Wonderful stories! Thanks for sharing them. They were fun to read.
Re your earlier rocking chair post, I can't believe how small those rocking chairs have become! What shrunk them?!
