Grandma and Grandpa come for a visit
We love having Grandma and Grandpa come!! Poor Grandma was sick the whole time, and upon her return found it was bronchitis! But she still got up and did fun things with us. What a trooper!
Highlights: going bowling (Grandpa made the rest of us look bad. haha), putting our tootsies into Lake Michigan, loosing teeth (see below) and having the tooth fairy visit, Grandma sewing a new swimsuit (she's so talented), watching movies, hearing family stories about when Mama was little, being hot dogs at the Chicago History Museum, eating out (yum!), and cracking geodes!
a short stop with Grandpa to the Farm at Lincoln Park Zoo
petting the goats there
More goat
dressing up and snuggling Grandma
Ha! Grandpa gave Selah bunny ears!!! She didn't know until she saw the picture!
Happy Family times
So... the tooth story....
One night we decided to watch Toy Story, and Selah and Tiki were wiggling their loose teeth. Suddenly, Selah found she had pulled hers out! With a shout of glee she ran to see the empty spot in a mirror. Tikvah gave a look of determination and reaching into her mouth, began twisting and pulling at her own loose tooth. Aha! She pulled it! A shout of triumph. Two lost teeth!!!
The girls both left Grandpa notes: "Dear Tooth Fairy, please give me money. Don't take my tooth, I want to keep it." Why on earth would they give Grandpa tooth fairy notes? Well, when Mama was little, Grandpa started writing notes when we lost teeth, but it was long after we had begun to lose teeth, so none of us were fooled (except poor Jerusha, who was younger and was never quite sure why her Papa had a gleam of mischief in his eye... he wouldn't ever lie to me!). The girls have heard these stories, so they knew who to ambush!!! Next morning... Tooth Fairy notes! And money! And our teeth back! Hip Hip Hooray!
"Thanks Grandpa!" "Why are you thanking me? You need to mail your thank you to the Tooth Fairy!"
