Birds on tap... May 2017

Our first year in our apartment, a robin built a nest in the tree next to our balcony. She sat for a while, but I guess never laid any eggs, or none hatched. 

BUT this year, we had a repeat performance, and this time the eggs hatched! It was a lot of fun watching the mama robin. She would take a break, and when returning to the nest would do a side to side wobble to rearrange the eggs. What a hoot! Even after the babies were born she'd wobble on them. We got shots of the little heads popping out for food. Sadly, before the babies could fly, we had a big windstorm or an animal got up there, and one morning the nest was half out of the tree and we saw one baby dead on the ground. Perhaps the others survived, but we'll never know.
