School Field Trip, May 2017
The long-awaited trip to Springfield was a bit of a bust. We visited the Abraham Lincoln Museum (the girls thought they knew it all already and didn't want to read much of the info there), Lincoln's House (fun), and tomb (fun for me, but not as much for them. Except for the giant bust of Lincoln!)
We'd studied the Civil War and Lincoln at the start of the school year, so not much information was new in the museum, and the display of angry floating heads was really creepy! (they were denouncing Lincoln's policies--he's obviously one of the best presidents we've had, but he sure had his enemies at the time!)
Can you find the present day people amongst those from the past? Hint: bare arms!!
Wax Lincolns at the Presidential Museum
Gift shop: guns are fun
Hats are too.
Especially stovetop hats!
More guns...
In Lincoln's house in Springfield
Ditto
At the tomb. Very serious.
Forced to smile. Aren't those smiles nice?
The tomb: He's actually ten feet under there.
Large bronze bust (nose!!)
Thanks to the kind stranger who took a photo of our family
