September 28, 2015--Surgery

Shriner's Hospital for Children has been such a blessing for us. They've provided great care for Tikvah, and it is no cost to us.

This year, after an expander and braces, Tikvah was ready for her surgery! The surgeons took bone from her hip and packed it into the space in her gums. She spent only one night at the hospital, and was a trooper about recovery! Mouth surgery means nothing but clear liquids for a few days, then moving on to thicker liquids, followed by soft foods for a month. No pickles for my pickle-lover. But, she enjoyed the extra ice cream.

waiting... far too early in the morning!
snuggling up with Teddy. It's good to have a friend in the hospital.
Post surgery, having Sprite and broth. Sorry about the blurriness. Recovery also meant trying to get up and walk around as soon as possible, so walking across the hall to play Wii was an incentive. And out of self-defense, Tiki learned to swallow pills. The oral medications tasted horrible!
